Coronavirus in India: Mohali woman who travelled to UK tests positive

Samples of two more family members of the 69-year-old woman will be taken for testing, officials have said.



69-year-old woman, who recently returned from the United Kingdom, has tested positive for coronavirus, taking the total number of cases in Punjab to three, an official said on Friday.
"The woman, a resident of Phase 3 A in Mohali, has tested (positive) for coronavirus," Mohali Deputy Commissioner Girish Dayalan told PTI. "She had returned from the UK," he added. FOLLOW LIVE UPDATES ON CORONAVIRUS OUTBREAK
Her samples were tested at the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), the official said, adding that she would now be admitted to a hospital.
"Samples of her two more family members will be taken for testing," he said.
One of the two earlier COVID-19 patients in Punjab has died.
SUSPECTED CASE FLEES HOSPITAL, BOOKED
In a first such case in Punjab, a 26-year-old woman suspected to be suffering from coronavirus was booked for fleeing from the hospital here, police said on Friday.
The woman, a resident of Mohali, had returned from the US and was taken to a government hospital in Chandigarh for a check up.
"But we got a call from the PGIMER (Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research) authorities that the woman had fled from the hospital on Thursday early morning," said Mohali Station House Officer Phase -8 Rajnish Chaudhary on Friday.
She had been booked under relevant sections including 269 (negligent act likely to spread infection of disease dangerous to life) and 188 (disobedience to order) of the IPC, he said.
